Mila - The Most Powerful Seed on Earth

Mila Before the comeback of chia seeds (remember chia pets on those awesome TV commercials), chia has been around for hundreds of years. Today you hear many people talking about it as a good source of fiber, protein and energy, but it is SO much more.

Every single person should be taking this food in. Let me tell you why.

Mila is a formulation of chia that is wild harvested, organic, unheated. It is a combination of seeds taken from all over the world, and the places it comes from have the richest sources of soil which translates to higher nutrient density. Not every seed is as nutrient dense. Climate matters and factors into the nutrition relating to protein, fiber, and omega-3 content.

Flax is not the same. Mila is a survival food, remember the Aztecs? The Aztecs were known for using chia for strength before going into battle. Why would chia, a seed, a fat be the best food for battle - or these days exercise? Because it is a a combination of protein and fat.

The highest source of energy is fat: How? 1 gram of fat = 9 calories while 1 gram of  carbohydrates or protein = 4 calories and calories = energy.

Our country is deprived of good fat, real fat. Think about dry hair, dry skin, dry nails. If the outside of your body is dried out, so is the inside. If you eat a diet without fat or without a good source of fat this is what happens. Fat helps to coat the digestive system so that food moves through easily. We must move all the food we eat through our digestive system. Any food you eat that you do not eliminate is still backed up inside of you.

Mila contains Essential Fatty Acids (EFA)s which every cell in the human body needs.Your brain needs fat for energy, without it, you experience mental fatigue, lack of clarity. What our bodies need is fat from seeds, not fish, not cows, and certainly not trans fat.

What Mila does:

  • Makes other foods a Superfood because it is a superfood itself! (It has as many antioxidants as blueberries)
  • Coagulates and gels and sucks up acid. This will put out toxic acid from your body
  • Balances blood sugar
  • Eliminates toxins
  • Fights free radicals
  • Helps you lose weight
  • Aids nerve health, even diabetic peripheral nerve pain
  • You can use it as a fat substitute in cooking and baking
  • Helps you grow healthy hair, skin and nails

When fat is cooked or heated its molecular structure changes and becomes rancid. Chia is raw, vegan, unheated and it contains amino acids and protein, the building blocks of life. Because it is fragile, you cannot grind it yourself. Look at the picture above - the texture of Mila is similar to almond meal or flour, it's ready to assimilate into your body. If you buy the other types of chia seeds you would have to chew apart each seed to get all of the nutrition from them.

Mila is superior to animal protein because animal proteins are acidic and cause mental fatigue. Seeds do not have the same side effects but give back to your body what it needs for repair and maintenance.

What are the healthiest proteins? seeds and nuts!

The way the seed is sliced protects it and its oil and nutrition. Pounding it is damaging. One method is more expensive and difficult and one is sloppy and damaging. You cannot grind it, it must be carefully sliced.

How is the BEST way to eat it?

Mix it into a health, alkaline fluid (such as alkaline water or green juice) and take daily.

MY FAVORITE MILA:

  • 1 scoop Mila
  • 1/2 - 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (I've been using chocolate - love.)
  • 1/2 apple diced
  • 2 Tbsp vanilla protein powder (this is how I sweeten my recipe while adding protein) (ask me what kind I love!)

Put this in the refrigerator and let gel and you have one of the healthiest snacks you can find that actual has a purpose in the body.

How to take Mila:

Start with a teaspoon so that you don't get constipated. It's so important to drink enough water when adding fiber to your diet. In general we are not drinking enough water anyhow so it's all the more important to get at least half of your body weight in ounces of water each day.

Mila for athletes:

Athletes or those who exercise a lot - are putting their body through stress, and although it's a positive stress, it still creates breakdown in the body and the need for replacing nutrition. Mila is the perfect addition to your diet to help the body recover. Instead of grabbing a multi-ingredient chocolate protein bar after a workout, take in some Mila and see how quickly you feel better.
