2 Ingredient Watermelon Smoothie!
I had this HUGE watermelon delivered on my last Instacart delivery and I honestly don’t remember ordering it but oh well….I’ll always take more fruit!
Dalton and I were playing in the kitchen this weekend and thinking about what to make for breakfast and I remembered that large watermelon in my basement fridge. So I drug it upstairs and decided to chop it up.
PS: I love chilled watermelon so either put that big boy in your fridge in the whole form, or cut it and put the chopped up slices in the fridge to chill so it tastes even better.
Here’s how I chop my watermelon, and all melons and even things like papayas that could be awkward to cut and make your life hard.
Wash it: otherwise your knife is going to cut through dirt, etc and then straight into the part you’re going to eat
Cut off the top and bottom ends so you have a flat surface to stand it on.
With the melon standing upright, start slicing the skin off from the top down and then move all the way around the melon and stay as close to the flesh as you can and then go back around and make sure you cut off any white parts.
Toss all the outer layers.
From the top down again, slice about 2-3” in so you have a good amount to work with. Then lay that slice down and slice length wise and then cross wise.
Note: if you are using this for a salad and want it to look all uniform in size, then slice it more carefully so you have pretty cubes otherwise, just chop away.
Finish the entire melon, putting it in glass dishes.
OK THE SMOOTHIE!
This is so hydrating and simple. You might know that watermelon pairs perfectly with LIME. I don’t really think of this as a smoothie, but more of a refreshing healthy full of electrolyte tonic. It would be great after a walk or run outside or any kind of workout as well.
